The work Elastic Mint does with Preqin covers a number of areas which are increasing in scope and responsibility as the relationship continues to grow. There are a number of areas where Elastic Mint plays a key role in solving the day-to-day glitches as well as the big strategic ones.
Elastic Mint have established a strong relationship with Preqin which goes back to April 2018. Initially Elastic Mint were engaged to help finish a project but the relationship has grown to the point where Elastic Mint have become a trusted partner, involved in leading teams, designing architecture and providing tech leadership and consultancy.
The work Elastic Mint does with Preqin covers a number of areas which are increasing in scope and responsibility as the relationship continues to grow.
Elastic Mint pride themselves in not just delivering on big, bold, audacious software development challenges. We can also add value by helping to provide solutions to seemingly small day-to-day issues that many companies face. Outlined below are some of the day-to-day activities we have become involved in recently.
Preqin were looking to enhance their internal processes by automating tedious manual processes with a workflow solution. They had trialled a couple of SAAS offerings extensively but couldn’t find a solution that was an acceptable fit.
Elastic Mint Software Architects identified a workflow engine platform that enabled Preqin to build exactly the workflows they needed. Elastic Mint’s solution was chosen as the basis for automating new and existing business processes.
The removal of tedious and error prone manual processes has enabled Preqin researchers to focus more of their time on customer value add activity.
The situation
Excel exports are a big selling point for Preqin. In 2019 they were experiencing the intermittent failure of some of the larger exports causing out-of-memory exceptions.
What we did
An Elastic Mint’s architect was drafted in to solve this problem.
The outcome
After profiling the code and memory usage, they identified the root-cause as a problem with serialisation and implemented an effective solution using the Microsoft TPL Dataflow library.
The situation
At Elastic Mint we have always prided ourselves on our willingness to share our knowledge. Having worked with Preqin for several years and seen Preqin build a large development team in Bangalore.
As their Bangalore team rapidly grew we recognised the importance of sharing knowledge and ways of doing things to help ensure success.
What we did
We recommended the setting up of a monthly tech-talk programme and delivered the first talk ourselves on testing with an in-memory copy of Elasticsearch.
This tech talk programme has continued with Elastic Mint doing regular talks. Our most recent contribution, named “Making Code Great Again!” was all about coding style and challenging the ways developers often write code.
The outcome
The monthly tech-talk programme has become an integral part of Preqin’s knowledge sharing activity.
Over the last couple of years Elastic Mint has built an increasingly important partnership with Preqin in helping them tackle a wide range of challenges and opportunities. This partnership has been built on a track record of success across an ever growing range of projects. Key success factors have been Elastic Mint’s ability to tackle a wide range of issues and the transparent and collaborative way in which we work with Preqin.
This bodes well for a growing and mutually beneficial future relationship.
