An app built with AI can be safe to launch. It is just not safe by default. It is how to find that out when you cannot read the code yourself, and how to bring in help without getting burned a second time.

When launching as-is is perfectly fine
Sometimes the honest answer is "just launch it". If the app is an internal tool for a handful of colleagues, holds no personal data, and nothing serious happens if it falls over, the risk is low and the sensible move is to ship it and learn. The same is true of a rough prototype you are putting in front of a few friendly users to test an idea. Do not gold-plate something that exists to be thrown away.
The line to watch is real users and real data. The day strangers can sign up, or the app starts holding information about actual people, the calculation changes and "safe to launch" stops being a formality.
If you cannot check it yourself, here is what to do
Say the app matters, and you cannot read the code. The instinct is to hire the first developer who sounds confident and ask them to "make it safe". That is how people get burned a second time: a vague brief, someone you have no way to judge, and a bill for work you cannot check.
Do it in two steps instead.
First, get an independent review before any fixing. Someone senior, who knows how AI-generated code fails, reads the parts that carry the risk and gives you an honest written picture: what is fine, what needs fixing, what needs replacing, and how urgent each one is. This is cheap next to a build, it commits you to nothing, and it turns a black box into a list you can make decisions against. Often most of the app is sound and the real danger sits in three or four specific places.
Second, scope the fix against that picture, not against a hunch. Now you know what you are paying someone to do, you can get a real quote, judge whether it is fair, and take it to more than one supplier. You can also start small: a good supplier will happily do the review as a contained first piece, which shows you how they work before you hand over anything bigger.
